Crafting Hybrid Landscapes
In their architectural pursuits, the team endeavors to fashion structures that seamlessly intertwine with their surroundings, giving rise to what they term 'hybrid landscapes'. Their methodology is rooted in a profound reverence for the context, whether it manifests as the urban fabric or the untamed wilderness.

Emerging Silhouette
Envision a landscape, sprawling and flat, punctuated only by the arresting silhouette of their creation. Drawing inspiration from the geological marvel of Cromer Moraine, a rocky outcrop amidst Norfolk's plains, their design emerges organically from the earth, mirroring the undulations of the terrain and the reach of the surrounding trees. It's not merely a building; it's an extension of the landscape itself, firmly anchored in its environs.

Natural Rhythms
In a world saturated with repetitive motifs, they embrace the irregular cadence of nature. Their fenestration eschews uniformity, opting instead for a 'natural rhythm'. Vertical timber breaks the monotony of their elevations, while horizontal battens provide shaded alcoves. The outcome is a structure that seamlessly harmonizes with the organic patterns of the woodland, orchestrating a symphony of light and shadow in perfect equilibrium.

The Crystalline Tip
As the Cromer Moraine gracefully slopes downward, so too does their vision for termination. Their building culminates in a crystalline tip, where glass meets sky in a jagged silhouette. Transparency melds with the landscape, blurring the boundaries between indoors and out.
This meticulous design extends beyond mere aesthetics, fracturing the glass into natural geometries reminiscent of stone veins and crystal facets, orchestrating a delicate ballet of form and light. At the nexus of architecture and nature, their creation stands as a testament to harmony and coexistence—a true hybrid landscape, where the built environment seamlessly converges with the splendor of the natural world.

Crafting with Purpose: Sustainable Construction
In the heart of Kenninghall, where hemp and flax once flourished, we embark on a journey of sustainable construction. Drawing inspiration from the local landscape and heritage, our vision for the new home at Kippers Meadow is deeply rooted in environmental stewardship and community engagement.

Local Resources, Local Expertise
Embracing the rich history of hemp cultivation in the area, we have partnered with a local hempcrete contractor renowned for their expertise in sustainable building practices. By utilizing hempcrete—a breathable, carbon-negative material—we aim to not only insulate the home effectively but also reduce its environmental footprint.

Reviving Ash: From Disease to Design
Amidst the challenges posed by Ash dieback, we saw an opportunity to repurpose locally sourced timber. Collaborating with a nearby sawmill, we have transformed diseased Ash trees into thermally modified timber cladding. This innovative process not only enhances the durability of the wood but also imbues it with a warm, natural hue, reminiscent of its origins.

A Palette of Sustainability
Our material palette reflects a commitment to sustainability and locality. From the modified tones of Ash timber cladding to the lightweight sedum green roof, each element has been carefully selected to harmonize with the natural surroundings.
Zinc metal sheet cladding provides a striking contrast, adding a contemporary touch while honoring the tactile qualities of timber. As we weave together tradition and innovation, our construction endeavors not only aim to create a home but also to foster a deeper connection with the land and community. With every nail hammered and every beam laid, we strive to leave a lasting legacy of sustainable living in the heart of Kenninghall.

Native Habitats, Thriving Ecosystems
Drawing inspiration from the native flora and fauna of the region, our landscape design embraces the principles of conservation and restoration. From the creation of species-rich meadow grasslands to the establishment of native hedgerows and woodlands, every element of our plan is carefully curated to support a thriving ecosystem. Sculptural mounds and green roofs not only add aesthetic charm but also provide habitat opportunities for a diversity of wildlife.

Sustainable Access, Minimal Impact
In our endeavor to create a harmonious balance between human habitation and natural landscapes, we prioritize sustainable access and minimal environmental impact. Thoughtfully designed vehicular and pedestrian routes meander through the site, offering glimpses of the proposed residence framed by lush greenery. Permeable surfaces and carefully placed planting mitigate light pollution, ensuring that the tranquility of the countryside remains undisturbed.

Innovative Solutions, Responsible Practices
Acknowledging the need for responsible waste management and lighting design, we employ innovative solutions to minimize our ecological footprint. From timber bin stores nestled within the landscape to intelligent lighting control systems, every aspect of our design reflects a commitment to preserving the nocturnal environment and reducing light pollution.

Locally Sourced Materials and Labor
Our journey towards sustainability begins with a conscious choice of materials and labor. By sourcing materials locally, we not only minimize transportation emissions but also support the regional economy and reduce our carbon footprint. The utilization of locally sourced labor further strengthens our ties to the community, fostering a collaborative spirit rooted in shared values of environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

Air Source Heating and Solar Panels
Harnessing the power of nature's elements, our design integrates advanced technologies for energy efficiency. Air source heating systems provide a renewable and low-carbon alternative to traditional heating methods, ensuring optimal comfort while significantly reducing energy consumption. Complemented by strategically positioned solar panels, we tap into the abundant energy of the sun to generate clean electricity, further diminishing our reliance on fossil fuels and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.

Biodiesel Generator and Borehole
In our pursuit of energy independence, we embrace innovative solutions that minimize environmental impact without compromising reliability. A biodiesel generator serves as a versatile backup power source, offering resilience in the face of grid disruptions while operating on renewable fuels derived from organic sources. Additionally, a borehole provides a sustainable water supply, reducing reliance on external resources and conserving precious groundwater reserves.

Sewage Treatment Plant
Complementing our commitment to sustainable water management, a state-of-the-art sewage treatment plant ensures responsible wastewater disposal while minimizing pollution and safeguarding local ecosystems. Through advanced treatment processes, we uphold the highest standards of environmental stewardship, transforming waste into resources and nurturing the delicate balance of the surrounding ecosystem.
